The Cornish Federation of Sea Anglers
Est 1959

|| The CFSA ||

The Cornish Federation of Sea Anglers was founded in 1959 by the following clubs:

  • Camborne Angling Association
  • Falmouth & Penryn Angling Association
  • Mounts Bay Angling Society
  • Newquay Angling Association

Since it’s foundation the Federation has gone from strength to strength, and now proudly boasts some 30 affiliated clubs. From Geevor & District SAC in the west to Raleigh SAC in the east of the county, to Tintagel SAC in the north and a host of clubs along the south coast of Cornwall.  This means that the Federation represents in excess of 90% of the sea angling clubs in the county.
The objectives of The Cornish Federation of Sea Anglers are:

  • To promote the sport of sea angling
  • To further the interests of members of the Federation
  • To make representation in the interest of sea angling to the appropriate authorities
  • To assist members in all ways possible in connection with the sport of sea angling

The Federation is active in the promotion of boat and shore angling for senior and junior members within the county. There are currently over 80 trophies awarded annually to senior and junior members plus individual specimen and county record certificates.
A fish of the month competition is also run by the Federation. Four awards are available to win each month, 2 in each section - senior and junior boat and the same from the shore. There are also several other competitions organised throughout the year for shore, boat and dinghy anglers.
To promote junior angling in the county a Junior Boat and Shore Festival is run throughout the month of August.  This is sponsored by Shakespeare Fishing Tackle who donate several hundred pounds worth of fishing tackle prizes. Entry is free to all junior CFSA members and the Festival attracts an excellent number of junior anglers each year.
New clubs are always welcome in the Federation and there is a thriving Life Personal and Family membership section.
The Federation produces a monthly newsletter (The Shockleader) and a recorders report which is circulated to member clubs, life personal and family members also tackle shops throughout the county, keeping members informed of what is happening on the sea angling scene, but for the up-to-date picture keep visiting this website. We aim to update on or around the 10th of each month!
At this time CFSA members currently hold 4 European Shore Records and 15 British Records - 6 Boat caught and 9 Shore caught.
The Federation is affiliated to the British Conger Club and the European Federation of Sea Anglers. CFSA members regularly win awards from these organisations.
